On the Saturday summer evening singer and music producer Jan Smigmator impressed the viewers in the Brewery Garden with swing rhythms. The swing evening in Las Vegas style in the program of the International Music Festival Český Krumlov offered the best the viewers in the Czech Republic may hear in the given genre. Besides Jan Smigmator, also Dasha and Tom Gaebel from Germany made an appearance on stage and were accompanied by the Felix Slováček RTV Big Band. The audience listened to melodies in traditional and new arrangements by authors such as George Gerschwin, Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, Michel Legrand and Cole Porter. Jan Smigmator didn’t need to look for his way to swing for a long time, as swing found him, “I dare say that I will never give up this music,” Jan Smigmator is convinced of his musical route. The concert show “Keep Swinging!” follows up on the previous successful musical project Sinatrology from 2015. “I think that even the younger Czech audience has reached a stage when they are starting to listen to swing and go to concerts of this music. When I looked into the auditorium in Český Krumlov it was proof of that. It was an amazing multigenerational audience,” rejoiced the protagonist of the evening after the concert. The program of the concert was completed by Felix Slováček’s instrumental virtuosic solos. “I am happy that although swing is music of an older ‘date of birth’, young musicians dedicate themselves to it and that it is still able to find its listeners,” added Dasha to what her colleague said. German singer Tom Gaebel had already cooperated with Jan Smigmator on the Sinatrology project. He spoke highly of his cooperation with both the Czech singers and the great Felix Slováček Big Band. He came to Český Krumlov for the first time and he was impressed by the beauty of the town and the venue of the concert, which created a beautiful summer atmosphere for the swing evening.
