About artists

A musician of many faces, Petr Samšuk plays the accordion and guitar (and sings) in a folklore trio and in more numerous band compositions for various occasions. He dedicates himself to folk songs, folk, pop, blues and blues-rock. Samšuk has prepared a selection from the songs by Karel Kryl, one of the most recognized representatives of anti-communist protest songs as well as engagé songs for the festival in Český Krumlov. Kryl had a wide range of works and the ability to create radically different compositions starting with versed pamphlets and ending with sung poems, which work with deep allegories and complicated linguistic and semantic constructions. His works inspired by biblical texts, which however also turn to modern times, also play an important role. He is sometimes called the “poet with a guitar”.
