Moulin rouge
Living in late 19th century Paris, young bohemian poet Christian defies his father by joining the colorfully diverse group of people who inhabit the dark, wondrous underworld of the now-legendary Moulin Rouge cabaret. In this dilapidated, yet charming haven of sex, drugs and newly discovered electricity, a young man finds himself in a whirlwind of love passion, which ultimately ends tragically. His chosen one is Satine, the company’s highest-paid star and the most famous courtesan in town. The consequences of their romance fall on the whole loud club, in which the high and low meet, and poor aristocrats and elegant rich people mix with workers, artists, bohemians, actresses and courtesans. Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor excel in the lead roles as actors and singers.
